Placement Tests
Placement Tests
PLACEMENT TESTS are required for all new students enrolling in certain HEED math or English classes. Current HEED students in a HEED math or English class do not need to complete a test for the following year if they have satisfactorily completed the prior year.
Math Placement Tests (Required for Grades 6-12)
The purpose of the math placement test is to provide a realistic view of the student's strengths and weaknesses so an accurate class placement can be made. Class placement is based on mathematical readiness as evidenced on the placement test not on the grade or age of the student. The student may be placed in a class at a lower level than anticipated so that the skills needed for future success will be firmly set. It may also be necessary for the student to brush up on the skills necessary to excel in a given class prior to the start of the class.

English Placement Tests (Required for Grades 6-12)
All English placement tests should be emailed to brittnyearthur@gmail.com.
A middle school English placement test is necessary for new incoming 6th - 8th graders. All high school and college HEED English classes require a placement test for new students. Class placement is based on grammar and writing readiness as evidenced on the placement test not on the grade or age of the student. The student may be placed in a class at a lower level than anticipated so that the skills needed for future success will be firmly set. It may also be necessary for the student to brush up on the skills necessary to excel in a given class prior to the start of the class.
